About Degree Sources
Degree Sources is a free resource that helps students, parents, and working adults understand and access college financial aid. We build interactive tools grounded in federal formulas and public data, and we publish research-backed guides that explain how financial aid actually works — not how it sounds in marketing copy.
What We Do
The Site provides two things: interactive financial aid tools and educational guides covering grants, scholarships, loans, employer benefits, and degree planning.
The tools are the core of the Site. They include calculators for federal aid eligibility, loan repayment, ROI, GI Bill benefits, and time to degree; finders for scholarships and employer tuition programs; salary explorers; and aid letter decoders. A full list with methodology is available on our Methodology page.
How We Build the Tools
Every calculator on the Site is built on verifiable data sources and published federal formulas. Where the federal government publishes a methodology — for federal aid eligibility, loan repayment, or veterans' education benefits — we implement that methodology directly. For tools that rely on aggregate data (occupational earnings, institutional costs, scholarship availability), we draw from authoritative public data sets and disclose limitations.
Tool results are presented as estimates, not advice. For an official determination, contact the relevant school's financial aid office, the Department of Education, or the appropriate government agency. For per-tool detail on data sources and assumptions, see our Methodology.
Editorial Independence
Articles and tool logic start from primary federal sources and federal data systems. When government policy changes, we update affected tools and articles to reflect the new rules. We do not publish dollar figures or eligibility thresholds without an identifiable source.
Affiliate partnerships do not influence tool outputs or editorial coverage. For our full sourcing hierarchy, fact-checking process, and corrections policy, see our Editorial Policy.
How We Fund the Site
Degree Sources is free to use. There are no paid subscriptions, no gated content, and no fees for any tool or article.
We earn revenue through affiliate partnerships with accredited schools and educational programs and through advertising. When you connect with a partner through one of our tools or pages, we may receive a referral fee. This is standard practice in education publishing, and we disclose it on the Site.
These partnerships do not influence tool results or editorial content. Calculator outputs are determined by your inputs and the underlying formulas. Editorial decisions about what to cover are made independently of advertising relationships. No partner pays to alter our recommendations or tool outputs.
Who Operates Degree Sources
Degree Sources is operated by Click Send Inc. The team includes researchers, writers, and developers focused on translating federal financial aid policy into clear, accurate tools. Our work is informed by tracking federal regulatory changes, reviewing official data releases, and listening to feedback from the students and families who use the Site.
